The course provides a flexible continuing education experience for dental practitioners interested in obtaining necessary knowledge and skills prerequisite to delivering proficient comprehensive dental care to young children. The program aims to expand the number of dental practitioners who feel competent in providing children age 1-6 years with quality preventive and invasive/restorative/surgical pediatric dental services. This first part of intensive pediatric dental course series covers various aspects of pediatric dental treatment including diagnosis and treatment planning and core preventive & restorative pediatric dental procedures with emphasis on quality of care and cost effectiveness. Behavior guidance, local anesthesia, advanced isolation systems, infant/age one dental visit and fluoride varnish, silver diammine fluoride, and anti caries chemotherapeutics. Restorative techniques will also be taught with hands on instruction including SSC/White crowns and bonding techniques.
