What Type of Braces are right for you?

We get it – finding out that you or your child needs braces can be confusing, even overwhelming. At hellosmile our team is here to guide you from the moment you see the first crooked teeth to beyond your final appointment. Braces are much less intimidating when you have a smile concierge to help you with any questions, appointments, financial arrangements, and the whole process.

Metal braces/Traditional braces

These are the metal brackets and wires that most people picture when they hear the word “braces.”

Pros: Most cost effeictive type; colored bands give kids a chance to express themselves

Cons: Most noticeable type of braces
Clear Braces

Ceramic/Clear brackets are almost the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they are tooth-colored or clear that blend in to teeth.

Pros: Less noticeable than metal braces.

Cons: Less cost effective than metal brackets; Brackets have slightly higher profile than metal and they may chip if patient not careful.
Invisalign

Invisalign consists of a series of custom-made, mouth guard-like clear plastic aligners. The aligners are removable, and are replaced every 2 weeks.

Pros: Almost invisible; Patients can eat whatever they want without worrying about breaking any bracket (of course, they need to be removed before eating); It is easier to floss and brush the teeth.

Cons: Will not work for sever malocclusions (Case Selective); only available for adults and teens, not children. Not as cost effective as trandtional braces.

I had two consecutive appointments with Dr. Attaie. One for my 6 year old getting his molars sealed and my 3 year old having his first ever appointment. My older son was a little nervous about the whole thing and Dr. Attaie wisely had me leave the room. My presence was making him (my son) a little more susceptible to emotions and by leaving, he was able to be brave and feel more independent. He came out of it like a champ. Good call by Dr. Attaie. And, my younger son was very reluctant to get in the chair or be manipulated at all. Miraculously, he gently got my son on my lap and laid him back so that he was laying on my lap and his lap, cleaned his teeth and did it all with zero tears or freak outs. He's a smooth operator.
